Volunteer Opportunity: Development of Company Manuals

Purpose CLZ has grown rapidly since its inception in 1994 and it is critical that the organisational structure and policies remain aligned with CLZ’s strategy and vision. Alignment of policies and procedures will be accomplished through the establishment of Company Manuals. This will help CLZ maintain efficiency while designing an effective organisational structure that enables the realisation of the vision of “A valued, protected and thriving Lower Zambezi Landscape.”
Objective Voluntary consultant to develop a number of manuals and policies outlining Standardised Operating Procedures (SOPs) that formalise CLZ’s administrative and operational strategies.
Methodology

Voluntary consultant will work with CLZ’s management team to draft manuals for priority areas in the following order with oversight from CLZ’s CEO and relevant manager:

a.     HR
b.     Finance
c.     Procurement
d.     Health and Safety
e.     Operations
f.      M & E
g.     Stakeholder relationships
h.     Fundraising and PR

Required Qualifications
  • The ideal candidate would have a background and/or education in HR, finance, operations, monitoring & evaluation, project planning or business administration
  • High-level proficiency in English
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel
    Proficient writing skills
  • Able to work independent
  • Willing to live in a remote bush camp in Zambia for the duration of the project (approximately 4 months)
Preferred Skills and Experience
  • Advanced degree in finance, management, HR, business administration- or any other related field
  • Experience in conservation, working in Africa or working with NGOs
Benefits CLZ is a not-for-profit organisation who is seeking a qualified professional willing to donate their time and experience. CLZ is based on the banks of the Zambezi River in a location frequently visited by wildlife. Through this voluntary experience, the candidate will not only be contributing to extremely important work in conservation but will also be immersed in a remote location. This post will provide the opportunity to experience working in conservation efforts and advancements as well as living among the incredible wildlife which inhabit the Lower Zambezi. In addition, food and accommodation will be provided at CLZ’s basecamp in the Chiawa Game Management Area.

Reporting

 

The consultant will report directly to CLZ’s CEO or appointed manager. Prioritisation of the manuals developed may change based on CLZ’s needs as well as the background and expertise of the consultant. The consultant will also work closely with other relevant management staff as they relate to specific departments.

Interested applicants should submit a 2–3-page CV and 1-page Cover Letter to info@conservationlowerzambezi.org. This application will be on a rolling basis until a suitable and willing candidate is selected. Ideally, CLZ would prefer the applicant to arrive before October of 2021.
